MAUNDY THURSDAY

The Public will be able to use the wharf for the traditional Maundy Thursday fishing activities on Thursday 27 March from 3:00pm.

Barry Williams, Harbour Master, aims to remove all bulk cargo to allow public to access the wharf. An Officer will be at the barrier at all times to allow vehicles and pedestrians to pass.

Vehicles are only allowed to offload and then must return behind the barriers to avoid congestion and to allow easy access for emergency vehicles. The public are thanked in advance for their cooperation.

QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY PARTY 2013

This year the Queen’s Birthday Party (QBP) at Plantation House will be held on Friday 19 April. Although HM The Queen’s actual birthday is on 21 April, in St Helena there will a public holiday to mark the occasion on Monday 17 June 2013.

The cost of the QBP in St Helena is met from funds provided to the Governor’s Office by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London. Against the current background of severe pressure on UK Government budgets and the associated need to reduce costs wherever possible, the QBP in St Helena this year will be held on a smaller scale than in previous years. It follows that this year the number of guests invited to the QBP will be reduced. Invitations will issue shortly.
